For conceptual or illustrative art: For the 2025 school journal at Bridgewater College, I was contacted by a current student to submit an entry as an alumnus. The theme for this year is “Uprooted.” They asked me to share a story about what lies beneath the surface—about leaving things behind, the challenges and triumphs of starting anew, or finding roots in unexpected places.
